I love my group! we’ve been working all together with the project, we set up almost everything…

we did the website and we had fun because its the first time we’ve done one.

I believe all the information is acqurate according to the hrd website information…

My group and I were working on this project and then talking since we really see each other in person.

First of all we read the case, then answered the questions as a group and it came up pretty good… we discussed and chose what parts or sections we’ll be researching and then we were happy.

My team is easygoing which makes it comfortable since I am not used to work as a team. To me it is really hard because I like to be more independent about projects.

Anyway, week 1 came up good, we are going to keep working during the weekend and get week 2 done by next week.

This video shows the past and the present of technology. It seems to be a long time difference but it is less than half a century and today technology does almost everything for us.

Creativity: design in the making

In class we watched 3 videos that relate to education in the past, present, and future and how students handle the situation.

Here’s the video that I liked the most.

The first video shows a speech about creativity and the way students in the past had to drop artistic talents in order to become someone in life.
Today if you’re deeply passionate about art, or being creative, you can actually become the best in creativity in every aspect and still get a lot of money and do what you do best.

Choices in life mean a lot more than you’d think… and the fact we have the ability to make choices, it just shows how much we control in our lives.
The second video is about technology in the 21st century and the way students like me get bored at school because our teachers teach like a 20th century style. On the video we can see the way students are trying to speak up about the situation we are living and at the same time we are growing with technology.

A student in the 20th century had to memorize facts, they are passive learners.
The lessons were focused on the lower level of Bloom’s Taxonomy: knowledge, comprehension and application. The literacy is focused on reading, writing and math.

A student in the 21st century already know facts, they are active learners.
Learning is designed on upper levels of Blooms’ Taxonomy: synthesis, analysis and evaluation. The literacy is focused on the real world virtual reading, typing, and calculators.

The school boards need to change and update the lesson plans for the schools so the children can learn the basics and keep growing with technology.

The third video is also about the desperation of the students with old-school schools. We need an upgrade in school lessons too!!
There are children nowadays, who speak other languages thanks to the TV cartoons like Dora the Explorer, Ni Hao, Kai-lan, the Chinese Dora. Pre-K students with a stabled income are knowledgeable of many things; the only thing they cannot do is to write. Pre-K teachers have the 20th century lesson plans, therefore the children are just wasting time at school, and they learn better things and innovative lessons while watching TV.
Children also learn different cultures while watching a TV show.
Teenagers in the 21st century pay too much interest in video games, instead of school spelling. They have a lot of knowledge but everything they see is virtual. Like in Facebook, there is a game called Farmville, they know how to harvest and get money from a farm, it is really easy for them to move a finger and it’s all done.
Young adults are growing the same way, we’re growing with technology and some subjects at school are getting useless like a generalist teacher, the program is all about pedagogy and the way a classroom should be setup. The required books are from 1995 where classrooms were in a school. We are looking and expecting to grow and learn to become teachers in a virtual world with subjects that are useful in the real world, and not only for one country since we are growing fast and the world is becoming one.

Students today are begging teachers to update their lessons, teachers as well need to teach students for their future not for the teacher’s past.

Mind-mapping

I created a map about “Managing Time” and since that topic relates to me I decided to make a map that involves all about time.

Here is a picture of the way I created it on a piece of paper:

After I decided on the topics that relate to Time Management, I decided to find out more information to extend my map information and facts about time.

In the computer I typed all the information, I used a software called Inspiration, and that program focuses on doing maps and it is really easy and fun to do.

I could not make it bigger since the blog does not accept certain amount of MB.

Mind-mapping is a diagram or a map where you can write all information or simply use key words that describe a little more about the subject. It is a way to study the main ideas and in Inspiration you can also put some drawings and images that help you remember your ideas, memorize, and solve a problem.

Bloom’s Taxonomy

Bloom’s Taxonomy shows three types of learning:
cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.
The cognitive type of learning is the one used in blogs.
It has 6 major categories that the author of a blog like me uses in order to write something.
1.Knowledge: It describes things that you already know and want to share your ideas and thoughts to the world.
2.Comprehension: Describes and explains the best way on trying to interpret something.
3. Application: Predicts, informs, discover the outcomes.
4.Analysis: examines, compares, structures, and breaks down information.
5. Synthesis: thats the creativity part where you can design ways to interpret your blogs better and publish it.
6. Evaluation: where random people read the blog and give their opinion, idea, thought, and critizes or supports the blog.

Every blogger uses those categories ofthe Bloom’s Taxonomy of learning domains.

Designing for Learners

Aside from learning styles and preferences, what else should we take into account regarding learners or our audience in designing instruction?
I will set this up in a classroom, the teacher must have knowledge of all her students, their age, their writing & reading level, and do some type of sort, where she can identify and focus on each group on their needs.
As a teacher she can make a balance on her classroom and teach according her students.
A teacher must show flexibility and patience toward students in order to succeed. Also, treating all her students like human beings, giving fair assingments, support their class, talk about different topics that the students could discuss about. I believe a teacher must have a lot of knowledge to always have an answer for each student and not acting like a fool.
A classroom should be a small community where everybody learns and express themselves, and the teacher is the one who controls and guides every student in order to have a great class.

Online Learning Myth

I pretty much knew how it would be to take online classes, I had read about it before acutally signing up for one. Also, I had spoken with a few friends who had taken them before. The myth that I fell for was the oposite from the ones I read about. I thought that online classes were more difficult, I was skeptical at first but because of my work schedule I really had no other choice. I was very nervious the first week, I was expecting a whole pile of workload to show up in my inbox. After a few weeks I finally got over that fear and really enjoyed my class.

Now I try to take as many online classes as I can, it is a better fit for me because I can plan out my time very nicely and have time for everything. Plus, I’m a visual learner, so online classes help becuase I have to read everything and see the images, not so much with the traditional style.

Copyright

Copyright is the way the author of an article, picture, video, or something can be protected by the law. The author must always write copyright when he is doing the article, picture, otherwise, it cannot count as a copyrighted work.

Today, the internet shows many works of random people, with information of public domain like the blogs, which are not copyrighted or protected by the law.

The personal expression of someone must be copyrighted because every person is different including the mind. Therefore, it is important that artists, musicians, authors, designers, and many others, to copyright their work to avoid any further conflict and be secured for a hundred years.

There are works that are not copyrighted and those are mostly known as opinions. In this case, facebook is one of those. People can type opinions and post pictures, but none of those are going to be copyrighted, since it is a public social network they are not responsible for any type of claim.

Graphics and other multimedia on a site are also protected by a copyright, unless they are clearly marked as public domain.

Copyright is the right of a man who created something like a song, game, etc.. And if someone copies your work you can claim a complaint and the person who did it receives a sanction.

The copyright sing is this: © and it should be located next to the work you are protecting. Then you should include The Copyright Notice in a visible place, and it looks like this:

Musicians use copyright a lot because of the lyrics and the notes. It is easy to listen to a rhythm and steal it. But having your work copyrighted you have the right to protect your work among the people around the world.
